Beautiful Aspen, Colorado is a choice destination for sophisticated world travelers. United Airlines is the first choice for tickets because they have non stop flights from all major cities in the US into Denver. And most importantly, they have almost hourly flights from Denver into Aspen.

Here are suggested travel ideas for a September – October trip to Aspen to get you acquainted with the city, without needing to make ski arrangements. In the fall, you can see beautiful fall colors and foliage. It is during this brief time that the Aspen trees reveal their yellowed glory. The weather is spectacular; sunny and warm with a chill thereabout. The air is so clean it sparkles and the drinking water is pure thrill.

The St. Regis Aspen Resort — a beautiful, well situated five star resort, with many amenities, and first rate customer service — is a preferred place to stay in Aspen. Check in is easy at the front desk and their wonderful Mountain Social Bar and Lounge is perfect for immediate food and relaxation after the flights. The lounge is peopled with the Aspen beautiful and the fashion is inspiring! (Cowboy hats for the ladies; surprisingly perfect.) Everyone is friendly, too. The rooms are quiet and beautiful; housekeeping is very responsive. The internet is excellent. Do your work at a windowed desk, looking at a friendly pine tree, and the stately buildings of the St. Regis. The entire staff is mannered and efficient.

At a quiet little entrance in downtown Aspen, you will find the spectacular Rio Grande Trail, which runs along the winding Roaring Fork River. The water sparkled walking/biking path is lengthy and a good work out is in your future.

Get a complimentary cruiser and electric bikes from the St. Regis. Or, anyone can rent bikes at Aspen Velo Bicycles, across from Clark’s Market.

Visit the Maroon Bells. Reservations are required to see this world renowned mountain setting and the hiking trails. Reservations can be made and transportation arranged through the St. Regis. (No cars are allowed at Maroon Bells.) The city does a wonderful job providing transportation to the mountains, beginning at Ruby Park Transit Center.

After you arrive back in town on the free Aspen city shuttle, walk over and buy a book at the cozy earth toned Explore Booksellers, so that you have something to read during your trip.

If you feel like a hearty lunch, head over to Meat and Cheese. Excellent comfort food is available and the service is wonderful.

And, if you are hungry for a really lovely dinner of Asian Fusion food, try Jing, located in the heart of downtown Aspen. The atmosphere is upscale casual and all are welcome — locals, celebrities — and everyone has a smile for the neighboring table. Jing has a full bar (and non-alcoholic fancy dinner drinks too.) The food is wonderful. Try an appetizer of dumplings, followed by a yellowtail sushi roll, fried rice, seabass with vegetables, and green beans. Executive Chef Frank Lu stops by to chat with the customers. He gets around the restaurant, no problem, and everyone loves him right back! What else could you possibly ask for?

The Aspen area is surrounded by cattle ranches and farms and the local people are very down to earth. The people are in terrific shape and everyone is walking and hiking and biking…and waving hello to neighbors and tourists alike. Aspen does not fade in memory; it beckons you again for the future.
